Privacy Policy

Overview

Kin-nect is committed to protecting your privacy and the privacy of the loved ones you enroll. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over your data. We've written it in plain English on purpose — if anything is unclear, email us at support@kin-nect.app.

Information We Collect

How We Use Your Data

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers or data brokers. We use a small number of service providers strictly to operate the product, each with their own privacy commitments:

SMS / Text Messaging

Program description. Kin-nect sends recurring SMS service notifications to the family caregiver about their enrolled loved one's scheduled check-in calls — daily summaries of how their loved one is doing, and alerts when a call flags a concern, a request, an urgent or safety situation, a missed check-in, or an account/billing change. This is a notification program for existing customers; it is not marketing.

How you opt in. You opt in during signup. On the "Who should we alert?" step of onboarding — on the web at kin-nect.app and in the Kin-nect iOS app — you enter your own mobile number and check a box (unchecked by default; you cannot continue until you check it) that reads: "I agree to receive SMS alerts from Kin-nect about my loved one's check-in calls, including concerns, requests, and urgent notifications. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help." The box links to this Privacy Policy and our Terms, and we record the date and time of your consent.

Message frequency & cost. Message frequency varies — typically about one message per day per enrolled loved one, plus occasional urgent or account alerts. Message and data rates may apply.

For this program we collect and use the following information:

CCPA Notice (California Users)

If you are a California resident, you have these rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act:

To exercise any of these rights, email support@kin-nect.app with "CCPA Request" in the subject line.

Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Kin-nect is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Data Retention

Your Rights

International Data Transfers

Kin-nect's data is stored on US-based servers (Supabase, primarily). If you access Kin-nect from outside the United States, your data will be transferred to and processed in the US, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. By using Kin-nect from outside the US, you consent to that transfer.

Security

We protect your data with encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure password storage, row-level access controls in our database, and the security practices of our underlying service providers. No system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security against every possible threat. If we ever detect a breach that affects your data, we will notify you promptly as required by law.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll let you know by email or in-app notice. Your continued use of Kin-nect after the changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
